On the radio, August 2010
Peter Naughton has more than ten years of broadcasting experience in Syracuse and Utica, New York.
While still attending college, Peter got his start in radio in 1999, as a part-time DJ for leading Utica radio stations Lite 98.7 (WLZW) and Big Frog 104 (WFRG). After a short stint in Utica television news and graduating college, Peter was promoted to a full-time position with Lite 98.7
as the station’s afternoon drive host and eventually, the program director. As part of his duties, Peter voiced dozens of commercials and hosted many remote broadcasts, radiothons, contest giveaways and other events.
In 2005, Peter returned to television as a news producer at NewsChannel 9 WSYR-TV in Syracuse. For part of his time there, Peter also anchored newscasts at Newsradio 570 WSYR and — through the magic of radio — newscasts for WHJJ in Providence, Rhode Island. In 2008, Peter revived CNYRadio.com, reporting on the latest radio “insider news” from Syracuse, Utica, Watertown and Ithaca.
TV news was exciting, but after nearly four years, Peter was ready to move onto something that offered normal hours (no overnights or holidays) and lower stress levels. But he couldn’t completely cut himself off from broadcasting! In addition to his full-time day job, Peter continues to operate CNYRadio.com. And in late 2009, he rejoined the air staff at Lite 98.7 in his original capacity as a part-time weekend DJ. He’s usually on the air (see/hear aircheck clips) for one shift every other weekend, though the schedule varies from time to time.
